If you're responsible for a building with hot and cold water — a rental, a shop, a café, a holiday let, an office, a hall — the law asks three things of you: assess the Legionella risk, write down how you'll control it, and keep it monitored with a record to prove it. EASYlegionella lets you do all of it yourself, properly, guided every step. Here's the whole picture.
Who
I'm Jan, a former water hygiene engineer and health & safety manager. I have walked 1,000s of sites over the years from chemical plants and airports to schools and municipal buildings. To help out my teams and reduce spending, I created an automated system which processed data and Legionella risk assessments for 1,200 independent sites.
I began a training process with real employees, in their unique roles so they could easily conduct their own monitoring throughout the year based on the written schemes of control I created as part of that process.
The app I'm launching is a sophisticated version of this principle and goes one step further: it enables duty holders to conduct a full, compliant Legionella risk assessment in house.
It was born out of the realisation that so many small site owners were being left 'unserved' by the industry and larger set-ups were paying sometimes thousands every year for services they could easily manage themselves. This app is for you and it has every shred of my passion and experience loaded into it to save you money and take complete control.
What
An app-based platform with three parts:
- Risk assessment — we either give you a tailored guide through the LRA process, or simply read your existing LRA.
- Written scheme of control — the control document the law expects, generated from your risk assessment.
- Monitoring — a live calendar of what to check and when, with a timestamped record built as you go.
Free training and as-you-go guides are included throughout, intelligently tailored to your site profile.
It's all built to HSG274 Part 2 and ACOP L8 — the HSE's technical guidance and Approved Code of Practice for hot and cold water systems. The standards are the same for everyone; the assessment it produces is built around your unique building, not generic. Already hold a risk assessment? Upload it, and the app produces your scheme of control and monitoring from what you already have!
When
EASYlegionella goes live in October 2026 — the app, LRA building and processing, the written scheme of control and the training, complete, as one product. Everything's included in a single simple annual subscription, announced at launch.
Why
Because compliance has only ever had two doors. One is expensive — a consultant's assessment, then a contractor every month for the life of the building. The other is free and dangerous — do nothing, file nothing, hope nobody asks. Millions are stuck behind the second door for want of any other.
